Pensioners receive some government benefits for help towards funeral expenses.
If the deceased was an ex-serviceperson the surviving partner may be entitled to claim for a funeral benefit from the Department of Veteran Affairs.
Some unions, lodges, medical benefit funds etc offer members a funeral benefit.
