Dos and don’ts
It is a privilege to be asked to help arrange a funeral for a family member or friend and it’s important to take your time and get it right. To make the role easier we have compiled a short list of Dos and Don’ts that will assist.

have a notepad beside your phone - DO
make notes of what you have done - DO
ask for assistance - DO
make sure you understand what people are talking about - DO
write down calls that have to be returned - DO
make sure you understand everything you sign

be ashamed to have to ask for financial assistance - DON’T
be rushed into anything you do not understand. - DON’T
Make any decisions about wills or estates until you can think clearly. - DON’T
be ashamed to show your feelings. If you want to cry then do it, if you want to scream or yell, do it. - DON’T
let anyone remove any personal belongings. Do it yourself when you are ready. - DON’T
be afraid to accept help when offered. Remember you may be able to repay the help some other day.
